My Family Food Traditions(: Samantha

well in my family we have a lot of food traditions especially on the holidays. my grandma is always the one cooking along with my mother and my aunt sometimes helps. during holidays or winter times we always make tamales of pork or chile verde, mole, posole, chicharones, and ponche. ponche is a drink where you use tamarindo, apples, cinamon, tejocotes, a little bit of orange, cana, guayaba, and sugar.

My Family Food Memory :D Frenesis (Fifis)

Ummm we have a lot of food memories but im only going to name a few. For Christmas we all get together at my house and make menudo or sopapillas. All the women are in the kitchen making the food and the men are outside cleaning in the garage for the party. For New Years we make tamales some with pork, green chile and cheese and some that have pecans, raisins, coconuts and other things. On New Years the men are outside making chicharrones but we are always aware before the chicharrones are made because we get temblorosos with salt and limon on a corn tortilla yummm :) p.s. chicharrones is the skin from the pigs and temlorosos is the stage before the skin starts to get hard.

Ruth and Grandpa Zekiel's Meatloaf :D

I have alotta memories when it comes to cooking with the family. The one I remember the most is when me and my grandpa made his secret recipe for the best meatloaf with incredible, finger- licking marinara sauce XD I cant tell you the exact recipe, but it was an awesome moment to find out what my grandpa does to make the best meatloaf. One hint, a lotta eggs!! He rarely shares any of his recipes, whether its for savory foods or desserts. It made me feel like he supported my interest in culinary when he shared the famous meatloaf recipe (:

Susie - Tooties! (Favorite Food Memory)

My favorite food memory is when we all get together to make Tamales on Christmas Eve. I love helping my mom mix the masa, then help my aunt and grandpa smear the masa on the leafs, and finally put the meats in the middle and wrap them up to cook. We usually take like half of a day doing them since we make like around 500 tamales. What I also like about doing them is that I get to spend some time with my family and more since it is Christmas Eve.

I've discovered through cooking that i dont like recipies. I just like to have ingredients and just to go from there. From sophmore year to now, i do know that i do not want to persue a career in culinary but would like to have a huge family to have huge dinnes, so that i can cook for them.

I have many family traditions. One of my family traditions is that on Thanksgiving we eat Turkey, Tamales, Pozole, Ribs, and Jamon al Horno. These foods are very traditional. Also, on Christmas, al my family and I like to make a dessert called Bunuelos! these are very delicious and sweet!! It is the perfect dessert to eat on Christmas. We also eat Tamales, Carnitas, and Barbacoa! On New Years we like to celebrate the new year with a drink called Ponche. It is a drink with different fruits in it and you can drink it cold or hot, however you like it!! It is very yummy and very traditional. All these foods and drinks are a tradition that my family and I like to do!! :) :D
